SASH PIN

a steel nail-like pin driven into the joint formed by the sash rail and stile to penetrate the rail tenon; sash pins are also used at each end of at least one bar; pins may be either smooth or barbed; also a pin or bolt capable of being engaged in one or two holes bored in the side sash jamb to maintain position of sash.
