Live Edge Solid Wood Countertops

Live edge is named because we strip the bark from the solid wood and leave it exactly as it was formed by growth irregularities in it’s plank form. The raw plank shows the unique signature of the grain angle it was cut at and we match the planks with solid wood joinery. The kitchen is usually the most used room of the home and renovating a kitchen island has been the most popular design addition to the kitchen. We want to share some of the design lessons we have learned for creating the perfect kitchen island. Your kitchen island can do a variety of things including hiding outlets! Just as important as a work station for food prep is a homework station, breakfast bar, charging station for devices and a center for entertaining friends and guests. Modern appliance options can place your cooktop in the island, or hide other kitchen essentials in cabinetry to create a kitchen island that can evolve. Yea, and if you have ever worked in foodservice, you probably don’t want your home to be a ‘stainless steel’ surface reverberating every motion on the countertop! In the kitchen, wood used for countertops can be resurfaced or repaired should serious damage occur while a crack in granite would be permanent.
