A client had a piece of property just West of Richmond, Virginia which housed an old barn dated 1741. Gepetto Millworks was commissioned to take the wood from the barn to build a kitchen, and custom built-in shelving and seating for the farmhouse that they were renovating on the same property. All of the wood was reclaimed and processed in Gepetto’s shop.
A panel was applied to the Sub Zero refrigerator as well was the cabinet door panels made up of the siding boards. The texture resembled lead pellets and wind deterioration of the barn siding. The character was perfect addition to the distinguished clients’ farmhouse.
The island legs were turned from the original structural support of the barn.
The beam you see in this image was the main ground support. As you can see, there are the mortises pockets where the floor joists were notched.
Historic Renovation | Replica Wooden Windows for any application to match a kitchen or keep the historic charm of your Fan or Monument Avenue home in Richmond.
The historic homes of Richmond are becoming famous for their character and architectural detailing across the east coast. From Providence RI to Wilmington North Carolina Gepetto Craftsmen have built and supplied all types of historic millwork.
By using the farmhouse sink, we made this stretch of cabinets feel more like a work bench than look like kitchen cabinetry.
This project gave the old worn barn a new life on the farm. Reclaiming old materials is one specialty that Gepetto Millworks enjoys tremendously.
